ASTM A453 Grade 660 Specification

ASTM A453 Specification describes detailed requirements of grade 660 in class A,B,C & D. A453 Specification covers grade 660 bolting material with two classes of yield strength viz. 85 ksi & 100 ksi [585 & 725 MPa] respectively for use in high temperature service for bolting components such as bolts, screws, nuts, stud bolts & various other fasteners for pressure vessel and valve flanges. A453 Grade 660 is typically known as alloy a286 with various trade names and specifications equivalent to UNS S66286. A453 Grade 660 material is produced in various other forms like wire rods, round bars, shafts, castings, forgings, threaded bars, threaded rods, wires, tubings, sheets, plates, welding rods, hex bars, Rivets & Springs. A453 Class A,B & C Bolting intended for high temperature use are stress rupture tested for 100 Hours at 650°C in finished condition. A453 Grade 660D Bolting are typically produced in double aged condition meeting NACE MR 0175 requirement of hardness 35 HRC Max in accordance with API 20F BSL2 & BSL3. Additionally Class D Bolting are charpy impact tested -196°C with 40 joules as the minimum qualifying requirement.
